International Links
CRiCS has a range of international linkages. It supports numerous
visitors and its researchers visit and present at many universities
overseas, but has more complex links with some overseas institutions.
University of Sussex, UK
The University of Sussex has one of the leading European groups on
evolutionary intelligence and robotcs. A shared ARC Discovery Grant
and an international PhD student formed the starting point for an
academic collaboration agreement signed in early 2009. Regular
visitor exchange has already occurred and will continue through 2009.
University of Lille, France
Fran¸cois Lamy commenced his PhD at CSU funded under a CRiCS
scholarship but under a cotutelle agreement with the University
of Lille in France. He will received degrees from both institutions.
Univesity of Genoa
Plans for links with the
McLeod Institute of Simulation Science (MISS) began in 2008 when the
CRiCS Director visited Professor Agostino Bruzzone (outgoing direcor MISS) at the
University of Genoa. Prof. Bruzzone is scheduled to visit CRiCS in
June 2009).
Fractal Methods in Medical Imaging
A number of collaborations exist in the area of retinal image analysis
for early markers of diabetes and other pathologies. Work with the
Univeristy of Waikato goes back
several years, while collaboration with the University of Graz in
Austria began in 2008.
Internships
CRiCS welcomes international students for short visits through to full
degree programmes. In 2008 three Masters students from the University
of Poitiers spent the summer here, while several students from Iraq
commenced research higher degrees.
